Diagnosis. Male pygofer (Fig. 21) with posterior margin rounded. Style (Figs 23, 24) with ventral margin serrated atmedium third. Aedeagus (Figs 25─27) shaft with pair of short lateral processes at apical half; apex with three pairs of processes: AL fused at base, LD longer than AL in dorsal view, and LV directed ventrally, arising posterior to shaft in lateral view, and without projections.
Measurements (mm). Holotype male: total length 6.60.
Coloration. Male sternite VIII (Fig. 20) without brown maculae.
External morphology. Head ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 16 ) with transocular width about 3/4 of pronotum humeral width. Clypeus (Fig. 17) about as long as wide; apical margin straight. Forewing (Fig. 19) approximately 3.1 times longer than wide.
Male terminalia. Sternite VIII (Fig. 20) with lateral margins slightly convex, posterior margin concave. Pygofer (Fig. 21) with posterodorsal margin near rectilinear; posteroventral margin slightly concave; apex rounded. Valve, in ventral view, about as wide as long; lateral margins convergent posteriorly; posterior margin rounded. Subgenital plate (Figs 21, 22) widest in basal half. Connective (Fig.23) with rami as long as stem; apex slightly concave. Style (Figs 23, 24) apical portion with ventral margin serrated at apical half. Aedeagus (Figs 25─27) shaft tubular and curved dorsally, in lateral view, wide at base and narrowed at apical third, lateral margins with pair of short spiniform processes at middle third; apex with three pairs of processes: anteromedian (AM) absent; anterolateral (AL) directed anteriorly, fused at base, and each slightly divergent from other in dorsal view, laterodorsal (LD) longer than AL in dorsal view, directed anterolaterally, and originating from LV, lateroventral (LV) spiniform, approximately half length of shaft, directed ventrally, arising posterior to shaft in lateral view, and without projections.
Female unknown.
Etymology. The new species name alludes to Diana, the acrobat, one of the protagonists of the TV series Dungeons & Dragons.
Material examined. Holotype male, “ PERU: Madre de Dios, 12 rd\ km E Mazuko, pte. Amanapu\ 13º02’51.1”S 70º20’45.9”W \ 382m 18-22.VII.2012 Malaise\ RR Cavichioli, JA Rafael, APM\ Santos & DM Takiya”, MUSM. Paratype male, same data as holotype. DZRJ.
Notes. Regalana dianae sp. nov. is a small to medium sized species of the genus. It can be easily separated from other Regalana species by the diagnostic characters above, in addition to the more robust aedeagal shaft in lateral view (Fig. 25), which is abruptly narrowed in the apical third.
The new species was collected with a Malaise intercept trap crossing a stream in anunflooded Amazonian Rainforest.
