Material examined: One female and four female valves from WN5, one female ( ECNU 20170417/HN18) dissected.

Dimensions: Female, RV, n = 3, length 1.973 –2.019 mm, height 0.730 –0.770 mm; LV, n = 1, length 2.005 mm, height 0.756 mm.

Description: Carapace green. In lateral view, carapace elongated. Dorsal margin arched. Anterior end slightly wider than posterior. Septa narrow along free margins ( Fig. 24B ). LV overlapping RV anteriorly and posteriorly. Natatory setae on A2 reaching to or slightly exceeding tips of terminal claws. UR asymmetrical. Right UR stronger than left UR ( Fig. 25 ). Claw Gp about half length of claw Ga. Seta Sa equals length of claw Ga.

Distribution: In China, this species has been found in Sichuan and Chongqing ( Huang 1986), Hubei, Guangdong and Yunnan ( Chen 1982), Jiangxi ( Zhang et al. 1994) and Zhejiang ( Yu et al. 2005). This species was found in Wanning on Hainan Island.

Remarks: These are the largest specimens of S. major found in China.
