Micronycteris minuta (Gervais 1856) View in CoL
Distribution. Honduras to southern Brazil, Bolivia and Peru, Guianas and Trinidad. In Brazil it occurs in the states of Acre, Amazonas, Amapá, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Pernambuco, and Rio de Janeiro, and in the Distrito Federal ( Rodrigues et al. 2002; Reis et al. 2007).
Habitat. The species is considered rare along its distribution, inhabiting primarily areas of tropical forest lowlands, where it has been collected in a number of different habitats such as swampy areas, cloud forests, plantations, and pastures ( López-González 1998). Despite of its large distribution in Brazil, in the Cerrado biome it is considered rare and restricted to forest areas ( Marinho-Filho et al. 2002). All hand-collected specimens were captured in open area near to pasture lands (13°46’ 17.03” S, 46° 37’ 30.44” W) in São Domingos, GO. The specimen from Alvorada do Norte, GO, was captured in a mist net placed in front of a small weir (14° 30’ 21.09” S, 46° 45’ 29.37” W).
Voucher specimens. Three males – CHUNB 1248, 1251 and 1261.
