Distribution. From north Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Brazil, and Guianas to Peru, and Mexico. In Brazil it occurs in the states of Amazonas, Amapá, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, and Tocantins and in the Distrito Federal ( Reis et al. 2007; Gardner 2008).
Habitat. Inhabits a large variety of environments such as tropical dry and moist forests, tropical wet forest, subtropical moist and wet forests, and savannas, roosting along rivers, streams, and riparian vegetation of lagoons ( Mies et al. 1996). In the Cerrado biome it occurs in both open and forested areas ( Marinho-Filho et al. 2002). We captured two specimens in a pasture field, near some small buildings near a patch of wooded savanna (13° 46’ 17.03” S, 46° 37’ 30.44” W), in São Domingos, GO.
