Distribution. From Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, northern Argentina, and Uruguay. In Brazil it occurs in the states of Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Tocantins and in the Distrito Federal ( Nunes et al. 2005; Peracchi et al. 2006; Gardner 2008).
Habitat. Inhabits tropical evergreen forest, chaco, and savannas. The species roosts in caves, roofs, fence rocks, hollows trees, and buildings ( Emmons & Feer 1997; Reis et al. 2007). Three specimens were caught in São Domingos, GO, in nets open near pastures (13°46’ 17.03” S, 46° 37’ 30.44” W), and two, from Alvorada do Norte, GO, were captured in front of a weir (14° 30’ 21.09” S, 46° 45’ 29.37” W).
Voucher specimens. Four females – CHUNB 1190 View Materials , 1191 View Materials , 1193 View Materials , and 1255; one male – CHUNB 1253 View Materials .
