COMMENT: Ailuropodidae ( Ailurus and Ailuropoda ) was considered a separate family by Corbet and Hill, 1980:95; but see Chorn and Hoffmann, 1978, Mamm. Species, 110:1- 6, who included Ailuropoda in the Ursidae . Thenius, 1979, Z. Saugetierk., 44:286-305, placed Ailuropoda in the monotypic family Ailuropodidae , and Ailurus in the subfamily Ailurinae of family Procyonidae .
