Type:— Greece. Tasos, Ilija, 1100 m, 8 April 1942, Stojanov & Kitanov (Holotype: SOM).

Glabrous perennial herbs, up to 22 cm, with several simple, glaucous, pruinose stems. Basal leaves entire, usually spatulate somewhat oblong with long petiole, forming loose rosettes, beneath papillate, ca. 12–35(70) × 5–10(15) mm; cauline leaves entire, amplexicaul, obtusely auriculate at base, lanceolate, ca. 6–20(35) × 2.5–8(12) mm, apex obtuse. Racemes simple, compact, ca. 3–15 cm long, ca. 9–53(80) flowered, congested, elongated in fruit, pedicels horizontally spreading to ascending, to ca. 6 mm in flower, to ca. 11(13) mm in fruit. Sepals greenish, hairy at outside, ca. 3–4.5 × 1 mm. with whitish membranous margin. Petals ca. 5–8 × 1.5(2) mm, white. Filaments ca. (1.2) 1.6–3.9 mm, anthers ovate, ca. 0.8–1.2 × 0.5–0.6 mm, yellow. Fruits angustiseptate, wingless, obdeltoid ca. 6.5–10 × 3.5–5.5 mm with a distinct apical notch to ca. 2,5– 3 mm. Tips of the notch acute at young fruits getting obtuse at the mature one. Style ca. (1.2) 1.6–3.9 mm, somewhat equaling the apical notch. Seeds orange, tuberculate, 6 per locule, ca. (1.5)1.7–1.8 × 1.25–1.3 mm.

Habitat: Open Quercus - Pinus nigra mixed forest.

Altitude: 400– 600 m.

Flowering and fruiting time: March–April.

General distribution: Greece, Turkey
