Homotypic synonym:— Bryophyllum rosei (Raym.-Hamet & H.Perrier) Berger (1930: 411).

Type:— MADAGASCAR. South-central Madagascar, “…récoltée par M. Perrier de la Bâthie, en juillet 1910, sur les rocailles humides et boisées, dans les schistes et sur les grès permiens des gorges des torrents, près des sources de l’Imaloto et aux environs de Ranahia” [“…collected by M. Perrier de la Bâthie, in July 1910, on damp and wooded rocks, in schists and on Permian sandstones in the torrent gorges, near the sources of the Imaloto [River] and around Ranahia ”], July 1910, J. M. [ H.] A. Perrier de la Bâthie 11825 (lectotype P P00444019 !; isolectotype US US 00603536!) , the former referred to as “Holo-” by Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 98), here corrected to lectotype.

Since the application of names of taxa at the rank of family or below is determined by means of nomenclatural types ( Turland et al. 2018: Art.7.1), clarity on the lectotypification of the name K. rosei facilitates a detailed comparison of Perrier de la Bâthie 11825 with specimens, both preserved and living, previously associated with names published for species that are included in K. subg. Bryophyllum and that share at least some of its character states.
