Mistaria Medler, 1988: 139 (Insecta: Hemiptera : Flatidae ), type species: Flata crassivenosa Karsch, 1890 . Preoccupied by Mistaria Lehtinen, 1967: 429 (Arachnida: Araneae : Agelenidae ), type species: Agelena leucopyga Pavesi, 1883 .

Type species. Flata crassivenosa Karsch, 1890

Etymology. From the preexisting name Mistaria , the prefix “Neo-” from the Greek “ neos ” meaning new; gender feminine.
