Lepturgantes Gilmour, 1957 View in CoL
Lepturgantes Gilmour, 1957: 21 View in CoL ; 1960: 173; Monné, 2005: 68 (cat.).
Type species: Lepturgantes variegatus Gilmour, 1957 , by original designation.
Diagnosis. Frons broad and moderately convex; eyes with the lower lobes about as broad as long, distinctly longer than the genae. Antennae 12-segmented in both sexes; very elongate and slender, more than 2.5 times as long as the body; scape very elongated, reaching the elytral base; third segment about as long as the scape, slightly shorter than the fourth; the three apical segments very elongated, with sparse stiff setae, both above and below. Prothorax transverse or trapezoidal; sides of prothorax with developed tubercles near base. Pronotum without tubercles, not strongly convex above. Prosternum and mesosternum with intercoxal process narrow, laminiform. Elytra elongate, without erect or semidecumbent setae (present only on the lateral margin); without carina or median crista near base. Legs slender, moderately elongate. Tarsi elongate, particularly the intermediate and posterior; first segment of metatarsi at least 2 times as long as the following two segments combined.
Discussion. Lepturgantes is most similar to the genus Lepturges (Chaeturges) and they share the following features: sides of prothorax with developed tubercles near base, pronotum without tubercles and elytra without carina or median crista near base, and setae only on the lateral margin. Lepturgantes is distinguished from Lepturges (Chaeturges) by the antennae 12-segmented in both sexes.
The species of Lepturgantes are very similar morphologically, differing principally in the body pubescence and the shape of the elytral apices.
