Lepturgantes candicans View in CoL ; Monné, 1977: 708, fig. 19; 2005: 68 (cat.).
Redescription. Male. Integument dark brown to brownish red. Body with predominance of gray pubescence. Dark brown pubescence on elytra (figure 1): rounded spot on the base, each side of the scutellum; zigzag longitudinal line from the side of the base to the middle of the elytra, when it branches in two; transverse zigzag spot from apical third to apical fifth. Antennae exceeding elytral apices at apical third of segment 5; segments 3-11 with short sparse setae. Prothorax with lateral tubercles continuous with posterior angles; pronotum with a row of coarse punctures on posterior margin. Prosternum and mesosternum with intercoxal process narrow, laminiform, about 1/8 as wide as one coxa. Elytra about 3 times as long as prothorax; finely and sparsely punctate, and apical 2/3 of lateral margin with very sparse short setae; elytral apices obliquely notched, sutural and outer angles slightly projected. Femora subclavate. Fifth urosternite and urotergite rounded at apex.
Female. Very similar to male, differing by the antennae exceeding elytral apices at the apex of segment 5; fifth urosternite rounded at apex; fifth urotergite truncated at apex.
Measurements (mm), male/female. Total length, 7.0–9.0/8.0; prothorax length, 1.5–1.8/1.8; prothorax width, 2.2–2.4/1.8; elytral length, 5.0–6.0/5.5; humeral width, 2.6–3.0/2.4.
Specimens examined. BRAZIL, Rondônia: Ouro Preto do Oeste, male, VIII. 1980 (B. Silva leg.) (MNRJ); Mato Grosso: Sinop, male, female, X.1974 (Alvarenga & Roppa leg.) (MNRJ). BOLIVIA, Santa Cruz: 5 km SSE Buena Vista (Hotel Flora & Fauna), male, 2.II.2004 (R. Clarke leg.) (RCSZ).
