Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. hoabinhensis Hoàng, 1982 in general appearance but can be distinguished from the latter by the elytral suture black throughout its length and the elytra with uniformly fine punctures ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 20 – 28. 20 – 22 ). In S. hoabinhensis the elytral suture is red and a row of large punctures along suture of each elytron is present.
Description. TL: 2.27–2.67 mm, TW: 2.01–2.47 mm, TH: 1.32–1.48 mm, TL/TW: 1.08–1.13; PL/PW: 0.40– 0.42; EL/EW: 0.87–0.89; HW/TW: 0.31; PW/TW: 0.57.
Head dark brown. Pronotum and scutellum black. Elytral disc chestnut brown, suture and margins black ( Figs 20–22 View FIGURES 20 – 28. 20 – 22 ). Venter dark brown.
Body nearly circular in outline and hemispherical, shiny and glabrous. Head frontal punctures very fine and shallow, 1.0–2.0 diameters apart, with short sparse setae. Interocular distance 0.57x head width ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 20 – 28. 20 – 22 ).
Pronotal punctures fine and densely distributed, separated by 1.0–1.5 diameters. Elytral punctures very fine and shallow, smaller than those on pronotum, 1.5–2.5 diameters apart. Lateral margins of elytra wide, visible from above.
Prosternum with large punctures and scattered long setae. Mesoventral punctures large and densely distributed, 0.5–1.5 diameters apart. Metaventrite shiny and broad, coarsely and densely punctate. Elytral epipleuron broad and complete to apex, distinctly foveate to accommodate femoral tips of hind legs. Wings well-developed.
Male genitalia. Penis long and slender, strongly curved, basal capsule slightly broadening basally and with thin inner arm, apex pointed ( Fig. 135 View FIGURES 129 – 138. 129 – 133 ); tegmen with penis guide in lateral view slightly arcuate, widest at base, gradually narrowing to apex, as long as parameres ( Fig. 136 View FIGURES 129 – 138. 129 – 133 ), in ventral view narrowly triangular, widest at base, gradually narrowing to apex ( Fig. 137 View FIGURES 129 – 138. 129 – 133 ); parameres very thin, as long as penis guide.
Female genitalia. Ovipositor elongate; coxites narrowly triangular, styli inconspicuous ( Fig. 138 View FIGURES 129 – 138. 129 – 133 ).
