Material examined. QM-W13418, 1 male (10.4 × 7.7 mm )), stn 51.3, CIDARIS I, beam trawl, east of Ingham , Queensland, 18°04’S, 147°20’30”E, 700–708 m, coll. M. Pichon, A. Birtles & P. Arnold, 18 May 1986 GoogleMaps .

Remarks. The present male specimen agrees closely with the description and figures of S. despereaux ( Lee, Richer de Forges & Ng, 2019) , recently described from Papua New Guinea. This marks a new record for Australia and extends the known range of the species southwards to the Coral Sea off the Great Barrier Reef, north Queensland. This species was described from depths of 680–966 m from Papua New Guinea, so the present male specimen is within the known depth range.
