Type species. Holopagurus pilosus Holmes, 1900
Diagnosis. Fourteen pairs of gills with entire lamellae. Rostrum obtuse, rounded, shorter than lateral projections. Antennal flagella with long setae inserted ventrally. Third maxillipeds with basis-ischium short, without crista dentata. Chelipeds equal or the left larger than right, but with same ornamentation and corneous claw. Males with 4 unpaired pleopods (pl2–pl5), with external ramous long and strong, inner ramous reduced. In females, 4 pleopods with 2 well-developed rami; pl2–4 very robust, pl5 a little smaller.
