Type material. Lectotype designated herein: UBST Nr. 65-2-161, University Bordeaux ( France), SL: 74.5 mm, MD: 21.0 mm, illustrated in Grateloup (1846: pl. 2/17, fig. 15).
Type locality. St-Paul-lès-Dax ( France) .
Stratigraphy. Early Miocene, Burdigalian.
Discussion. Cerithium bidentatum Grateloup, 1832 is a subjective junior synonym of Cerithium lignitarum Eichwald, 1830 , see Landau et al. (2013) for discussion.
