Calycomyza hyptisicola Spencer, 1973: 43 View in CoL .
Description. Wing length 1,9 mm in male and 2 mm in female. Acrostichal setae in six rows; dorsocentral setae 0+3 (anterior only a little longer than the acrostichals). fronto-orbital plate brownish to upper orbital seta and yellow below the second orbital seta; face grayish. Mesonotum brown with small yellow patches at hind corner. Calypter white with margin black; fringe black. Halteres yellow.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 23 – 27 to 27). Epandrium with 14 to 18 spines at hind corner; surstylus subtriangular with 10 to 12 spines; hypandrium V-shaped, without apodeme; basiphallus weakly sclerotized with two extensions apically; mesophallus short and slightly curved; subquadrangular sclerite present between mesophallus and distiphallus; distiphallus forming two crossed tubules covered by a pair of cup-like plates with many tubercles apically; ejaculatory apodeme short, enlarged apically.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 28 – 33 to 32). Ninth abdominal sternite slender; four pairs of marginal setae, the central pair longer than others; ninth abdominal tergite ending before the apex of the ninth abdominal sternite and with a pair of long setae apically; cercus elongated with four tactile sensilla; spermatheca rounded with a row of elliptical openings; eggs guide subtriangular; ventral receptacle T-shaped.
Host-Plants. Hyptis mutabilis (A. Rich) Briq. and Hyptis sp. ( Lamiaceae ). Larvae forming a regular blotchlike mine with scattered frass ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 28 – 33 ).

Distribution. Venezuela, Brazil (new record).
Remarks. Four Calycomyza species are leaf miners of Hyptis : Calycomyza arcuata , Calycomyza hyptidis Spencer , Calycomyza hyptisicola Spencer and Calycomyza menthae Spencer ( Benavent-Corai et al. 2005) . Larvae of C. hyptisicola and C. menthae forming blotch-like mines, but these species are distinguishable by the male genitalia, especially in the form of aedeagus.
