Procampta Holland 1892 View in CoL
This is a monotypic genus erected for the single species P. rara described from Gabon (Ogooué Valley = Ogové Valley), which is an occasional species found from Sierra Leone to Uganda ( Larsen 2005). Evans (1937) notes that the palpi are long, porrect; antennal club arcuate about the middle; apex of both wings truncate (with the apex slightly falcate so that the outer margin is excavate); male hind tibiae fringed; the male has an insignificant costal fold on the forewing; hind wing above with a thin tuft of brown hairs from the base of the cell; costal edge of hind wing white at base and furnished with a yellow hair tuft overlying the base of the forewing below. He does not state whether females have anal wool, but his key ( Evans 1937, p. 2) groups Procampta with Calleagris in having no anal wool. Both Evans (1937) and Larsen (2005) suggest that Procampta is close to Eretis , but Warren et al. (2009) place Eretis in Celaenorrhini, not Tagiadini . I have only seen this species once, at Ibadan, Nigeria, 20 Mar 1994, when a male perched on a twig tip at about 1m above ground, with its wings spread and angled slightly downwards. It resembled a Sarangesa sp. (Celaenorrhini) in the field. No food plants have been recorded ( Ackery et al. 1995; Larsen 2005).
