Herb or shrublet, erect, 0.5–2 m high; young branches terete, brown pubescent. Leaves digitately 5-foliolate. Stipules triangular, 1.5–3 × 0.5–1.5 mm, brown pubescent, persistent. Petioles 2–5 cm long, brown pubescent. Petiolules 1.5–2 mm long. Leaflets obovate, 2–7.5 × 0.5–2.3 cm, base cuneate, apex acute or acuminate, margin entire, glabrous upper, brown pubescent lower; lateral veins 6–10 pairs. Inflorescences terminal, open racemes, 17–37 cm long; peduncle 4–6.5 cm long, brown pubescent. Bracts narrowly linear, 3–5 mm long, pesistent. Pedicels 5–8 mm long, brown pubescent. Bracteoles inserted on the calyx tube, triangular, 3–3.5 × 0.8–1 mm, brown pubescent, caducous. Calyx View in CoL 4.8–5 mm long, truncate; tube 2.5–3 mm long; lobes subequal, narrowly linear, 2–2.3 mm long, glabrous inside, brown pubescent outside. Corolla View in CoL yellow. Standard: claw 5–6 mm long, white tomentose above and along the margin, at the apex with appendages, glabrous below; blade broadly ovate, 12–13 × 9–9.2 mm, base rounded or subcordate, apex rounded, margin glabrous. Wings: claw 4.8–5 mm long, glabrous, margin white puberulous; blade oblong, 12–13 × 4–4.8 mm, base cuneate, apex obtuse, margin glabrous. Keel: claw 5–6 mm long, glabrous, margin sparsely white puberulous; blade obovate, 12–13 × 6–7 mm, beak not twisted, base oblique, apex attenuate, margin white pubescent. Stamens: filaments fused for proximal 10–12 mm, free for distal 3–7 mm; anthers either narrowly linear, 2–2.2 mm long or oblong, 0.7–0.8 mm long. Ovary with 2–2.2 mm long stipe, oblong or oblanceolate, 5.5–6 mm long, brown pubescent; style 10–12 mm long, adaxially white pubescent in a single line along the distal edge from the middle towards the apex, abaxially glabrous. Pods with 3–5 mm long stipe, oblong, 4–5 × 0.4–0.5 cm, brown, rusty tomentose. Seeds reniform, 2–3 × 1–1.5 mm, black-brown.

Distribution: —North America, Africa, Asia ( Vietnam, Malaysia). ( Figure 8 View FIGURE 8 ).
Ecology: —Roadsides, disturbed areas and secondary forests, elevation 1500 − 1700 m.
Notes: — Crotalaria cleomifolia is distinguished by its obovate and digitately 5-foliolate leaflets, the beak of keel is not twisted and the pods that are rusty tomentose.
