Herb or shrublet, erect, 0.7–2 m high; young branches angular, brown pubescent. Leaves simple. Stipules triangular, 3–7 × 1–3 mm, silvery pubescent, persistent. Petioles 3–7 cm long, brown pubescent. Lamina obovate, 5.5–15 × 2–6 cm, base cuneate, apex acute, obtuse or rounded, margin entire, glabrous upper, brown puberulous lower; lateral veins 5–11 pairs. Inflorescences terminal, rarely axillary, open racemes, 10–37 cm long; peduncle 1.5–12 cm long, glabrous. Bracts cordate or ovate, 5–15 × 3–6 mm, persistent. Pedicels 1.3–1.5 cm long, glabrous. Bracteoles inserted on the pedicel, narrowly linear, 1–2 mm long, caducous. Calyx View in CoL 8–10 mm long, campanulate, bilabiate; tube 4–5 mm long; lobes triangular, 4–5 mm long, both sides glabrous. Corolla View in CoL yellow. Standard: claw 2–2.5 mm long, white tomentose above and along the margin, glabrous below; blade broadly orbicular, 17–18 × 23–24 mm, base truncate, apex emarginate, margin glabrous. Wings: claw 3–4 mm long, glabrous, margin white puberulous; blade elliptic or ovate, 12–14 × 11–13 mm, base oblique, apex obtuse or rounded, margin glabrous. Keel: claw 3–3.2 mm long, white tomentose above and along the margin, glabrous below; blade ovate, 9–11 × 7–8 mm, beak spirally twisted, base oblique white tomentose, apex attenuate, margin white tomentose. Stamens: filaments fused for proximal 8–9 mm, free for distal 5–9 mm; anthers either narrowly linear, 3–3.8 mm long or oblong, 0.8–1 mm long. Ovary with 1–1.5 mm long stipe, oblong, 7–8 mm long, glabrous; style 9–10 mm long with dispersed white pubescence. Pods with 2–2.5 mm long stipe, oblong, 4–4.5 × 1.3–1.7 cm, brown, glabrous. Seeds reniform, 4.5–5 × 3.5–4 mm, brown-black.

Notes: — Crotalaria spectabilis is similar to both C. assamica and C. retusa , but differs markedly from them by its triangular stipules, glabrous peduncle and calyx, emarginate standard apex and the base of the keel which is white tomentose.
