Type locality. D. R. Congo, Haut-Uele, Watsa.

Type material examined. Lectotype (by present designation) ♂: DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO: “ TYPE ” (orange, printed), “Musée du Congo, Watsa à Niangara, VII-1920, L. Burgeon // R. DÉT. K 878” ( MRAC). The specimen is chosen as lectotype and the label: “ Lectotypus Eulissus flavomarginatus Bernh., Janák & Bordoni des. 2014” was attached to this specimen.

Additional material examined. DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO: “ TYPE ” (orange, printed), “Musée du Congo, Manyema 1918, Katanga r. Kasa, Dr. Gérard // R. DÉT. K 878 // Eulissus flavomarginatus Brh. , type ” 1 ♀ ( MRAC). As the locality did not correspond to that originally published, the label “nec type, J. Janák vid. 2004” was attached to this specimen.

Redescription. Body length 10.5–12.0 mm; length from anterior margin of head to posterior margin of elytra: 5.5–6 mm. Head and pronotum black, elytra yellowish or brown, scutellum and abdomen brown. Head and pronotum very shiny, with micro-punctation. Head with setiferous postocular punctures ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 25 – 37. 25 – 31 ). Labrum quadrilobate, with moderately prominent inner lobes ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 25 – 37. 25 – 31 ). Elytra as long as pronotum, posteriad, slightly dilated and a little wider than pronotum, with broadly rounded humeral angles; surface with fine and very sparse punctation, arranged in three series. Abdomen with transverse micro-striation and fine, not sparse punctation on the sides.

Male. Tergite and sternite of male genital segment as in Figs. 49, 50 View FIGURES 38 – 53. 38 – 41 . Aedeagus ( Figs. 45, 46 View FIGURES 38 – 53. 38 – 41 ) length 1.4 mm, with short and large, pointed median lobe ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 38 – 53. 38 – 41 ); paramere long and narrow ( Fig. 47 View FIGURES 38 – 53. 38 – 41 ); internal sac more or less visible and narrow, covered by fine scales.

Ratios (n = 2): HL/HW: 1.01, 1.03; TeL/EyL: 1.70, 1.85; PL/PW: 1.20, 1.24; EL/EW: 1.03, 1.08; PW/HW: 0.89, 0.96; EW/PW: 1.11, 1.17; EL/PL: 0.98, 1.00; A5L/A5W: 0.59, 0.65; A10L/A10W: 0.54, 0.58.

Differential diagnosis. Achmonia flavomarginata differs from other Afrotropical species of the genus by the small head, which is only weakly widened behind, by the fine punctures on the surface among the setiferous postocular punctures, and by the shape of the aedeagus.

Distribution. The species is distributed in D. R. Congo: Watsa à Niangara and Manyema ( Fig. 1).

Remarks. As the labrum of Achmonia flavomarginata is dark, completely chitinised and quadrilobate ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 25 – 37. 25 – 31 ), the species was transferred from Eulissus to Achmonia . The species was recorded also from following localities: Cameroon: N’Kongsamba ( Bernhauer 1942) and Dahomey [= Benin]: Koussokingau, Atakora ( Cameron 1952), but no specimens from these localities were available for study.
