Juenagrion gen. nov.

Type species. Juenagrion nanae spec. nov. by present designation.

Etymology: Juenagrion = Juen, after Dr. Leandro Juen (b. 15–xi–1980), longtime friend and fellow odonatologist + agrion, neuter form of agrios (ἄγριος) meaning “wild”, which in damselflies is now used as an indicator that a genus belongs to the Coenagrionidae ( Fliedner 2006) .

Generic characterization. Medium sized Coenagrionidae (29–34.5 mm), angulated frons. Prothorax of female with a pair of short processes on dorsum of posterior lobe directed caudad ( Fig. 15A , 16 ). Penis with tip of S3 sharp– angled arrow–shaped ( J. igapocola and J. nanae ) or slightly rounded with a rim ( J. leptocyclia and J. selaopyge ), ectal region of S3 with a pair of lateral folds ( Fig. 17–18 ).

Species included: Juenagrion igapocola ( Faasen, 2017) comb. nov.; Juenagrion leptocyclia ( Garrison, 2009) comb. nov.; Juenagrion nanae spec. nov.; Juenagrion selaopyge ( De Marmels, 1989) comb. nov.

Distribution. Peru, Venezuela and Brazil.
