Type species. Juenagrion nanae View in CoL spec. nov. by present designation.
Etymology: Juenagrion = Juen, after Dr. Leandro Juen (b. 15–xi–1980), longtime friend and fellow odonatologist + agrion, neuter form of agrios (ἄγριος) meaning “wild”, which in damselflies is now used as an indicator that a genus belongs to the Coenagrionidae ( Fliedner 2006) .
Generic characterization. Medium sized Coenagrionidae (29–34.5 mm), angulated frons. Prothorax of female with a pair of short processes on dorsum of posterior lobe directed caudad ( Fig. 15A View FIGURE 15 , 16 View FIGURE 16 ). Penis with tip of S3 sharp– angled arrow–shaped ( J. igapocola and J. nanae ) or slightly rounded with a rim ( J. leptocyclia and J. selaopyge ), ectal region of S3 with a pair of lateral folds ( Fig. 17–18 View FIGURE 17 View FIGURE 18 ).

Distribution. Peru, Venezuela and Brazil.
