Type (lectotype designated by Roma-Marzio et al. 2018: 414):— ITALY. Trifolium michelianum T. caule fistuloso, foliis obcordatis, calyc: postanthesin reflexis, siliquis dispermis. Trifoliastrum pratense corymbiferum, erectum, annuum et praealtum, caule crassiore fistuloso, folio longiore cordiformi, fte albo, siliqua incurva lata, compressa ac disperma Mich : tab: 25. fig. 2 Linnaeus figuram 2 at 6 tab: 25 conjungit. Sed Trif: fig: 6 siliquas 4 3-spermas habet, Trif: fig: 2 dispermas. Differentia in fructu nonne sufficiens erit caracter ad species distinguendos? Michel: reperit circa Bientinam in locis paludosis; Nos in pratis humidiusculis prope sylvam pisanam S. Rossoris, s.d., Savi s.n. ( PI 003943).
