The following are new records of this species: 1 female: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Poring Hot Spring , fogging on Aglaia macrophylla (Meliaceae) in primary forest, 20.03.1996, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick . 9 females: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Poring Hot Spring , fogging on Aporosa lagenocarpa (Phyllanthaceae) , primary forest, 20.03.1993, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick (1, CMNC) . 2 females: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Poring Hot Spring , fogging on Aporosa lagenocarpa (Phyllanthaceae) , primary forest, 27.10.1993, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick . 1 female: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Poring Hot Spring , fogging on Aporosa subcaudata (Phyllanthaceae) , primary forest, 03.11.1996, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick . 1 female: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Poring Hot Spring , Xanthophyllum affine (Polygalaceae) , primary forest), 20.06.1992, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick . 1 female: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Sorinsim , Vitex pinnata (Lamiaceae) , disturbed forest, 2.3.97, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick . 1 female: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Sorinsim , Vitex pinnata (Lamiaceae) , disturbed forest, 10.03.1997, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick . 1 female: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Monggis , Oreocnide spec. ( Urticaceae ), primary forest, 23.9.2006, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick . 1 female: Malaysia, Sabah, Kinabalu: Poring Hot Spring , Aporosa lagenocarpa (Phyllanthaceae) , primary forest, 18.9.2006, leg. A. Floren, coll. P. Sprick . Except as noted, all specimens are in the collection of the NMB.
Remarks: All 21 specimens collected by canopy fogging are females, (the only other specimen known so far from South Andaman Island is the holotype, and also a female). This is surprising, and suggests parthenogenetic reproduction, which, not uncommon in some weevils (e.g., Entiminae ) is not known within Molytinae . It is more likely reflective of different emergence times of the sexes, or maybe sex-specific feeding habits. The distance between the two localities from where S. jarawa has been found on the Andaman Islands and the present records from Borneo are a remarkable distance of some 2700 km apart ( Fig. 3 View FIG 3 ). Thus it can be supposed that S. jarawa is widespread in Indonesia, but only very rarely collected perhaps due to a canopy inhabiting way of life.
