Zoobank.org/ urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:7BF6AE17-3AEE-4389-964B-3F4DA4ED67C5 ( Figs. 9–11 View Figs , 70 View Figs )
Type Locality. Venezuela, Amazonas, S Cummindad Porvenir, 5°20.514ʹ N, 67°45.315ʹ W GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. This species differs from others in this group by the elongate, slender male median lobe. In lateral aspect, the lobe is broader medially but abruptly narrowed and apically slender and sinuate ( Fig. 9 View Figs ). In ventral aspect, it is moderately broad with the lateral margins broadly sinuate and the apex long and needle-like ( Fig. 10 View Figs ). The median lobe is somewhat similar to that of Desmopachria vohrae Miller and Wolfe , new species, but that species has the lateral margins less characteristically sinuate and the apex less needlelike and more distinctly bifid in ventral aspect ( Fig. 30 View Figs ). Coloration is moderately distinctive, head and pronotum dark orange and elytron lighter in color than head and pronotum, but with large, diffuse, medial blackish region. Specimens

are relatively small for the genus (TL = 1.4–1.5 mm).
Description. Measurements: TL = 1.4–1.5 mm, GW = 1.0– 1.1 mm, HW = 0.5–0.6 mm, EW = 0.3 mm, TL/GW = 1.2–1.4, HW/EW = 2.0–2.1. Coloration: Head and pronotum pale orange, posterior margin of pronotum medially narrowly brown-black. Elytron with base color orange-brown, lighter than head and pronotum, with broadly expanded diffuse blackish region medially near suture. Head appendages, legs, and ventral surfaces orangebrown. Male genitalia: Male median lobe in lateral aspect long and slender, apical portion sinuate, apex extremely slender and apically acute ( Fig. 9 View Figs ). Median lobe in ventral aspect moderately slender, lateral margins sinuate, convergent to long, slender, needle-like apex ( Fig. 10 View Figs ). Lateral lobe broad basally, apically deeply emarginate, ventral ramus elongate, slender, apically narrowly rounded, dorsal ramus elongate, slightly expanded medially, apically rounded ( Fig. 11 View Figs ); in ventral aspect slender, apices of rami rounded.
Variation. Elytron with diffusely lighter medial area. Most specimens have the head and pronotum darker than the base color of the elytra except the large, diffuse, medial region of the elytron.
Etymology. This species is named gingerae in honor of the second author’ s youngest daughter, Ginger Wolfe-Suarez.
Distribution. This species has been found only in a few localities in southwestern Venezuela ( Fig. 70 View Figs ).
Habitat. Label data indicate that specimens were collected from a “small streamlet,” a “rocky morichal,” “rock pools,” and a “pool in culvert.”
