Genus Acidoxantha Hendel View in CoL View at ENA
Thirteen species are recorded under this genus including the new species described here, of which 11 are Oriental and 1 each from Australia and Madagascar. Norrbom et al., 1999 placed Acidoxantha in subtribe Acidoxanthina of tribe Trypetini ; Korneyev, 1999 placed it in tribe, Nitrariomyiini. Members of this genus are characterised by vestigial ocellar setae, yellow head and body setae, vein R4+5 bare, 2 pairs of frontal setae, Y-shaped yellow-brown band in the middle of the wing, broad epandrium, needle-like aculeus and 2 spermathecae ( Hardy, 1974, 1987).
