Etymology. Referring to the striation on the valve surface.

Holotype. Carapace , Eötvös Museum of Natural History, EMNH.2014.209.3.3. fig. 5/1. Borehole Vst- 8, 129 m.

Paratype. Carapace , Eötvös Museum of Natural History, EMNH 2014.210.1.5. fig. 5/2. Borehole Vst- 8, 110 m.

Type locality. Borehole Vst-8, Vértes Foreland, Hungary.

Type level. Albian, Vértessomló Siltstone Formation, depth 110 m.

Material. Borehole Vst-8, Albian: 31 carapaces; borehole Agt-2, Albian: 8 carapaces.

Dimensions. L: 403–1308 µm, H: 225–1058 µm, L/H= 1.1–3.6.

Diagnosis. A species of Neorichterina , with characteristic longitudinal striation on the valve surface, and with wide ribs and narrow grooves.

Description. Carapace ovoid with straight dorsal margin; anterior margin rounded or slightly truncate; ventral margin convex; posterior margin narrowly rounded; internal features not visible; valve surface with narrow grooves between 12 to15 wide longitudinal ribs; dorsally and ventrally the ribs follow the angle of the margins.

Comparison. The specimens described by Grosdidier (1979, pl. 11. figs. 60a–d), Rosenfeld & Raab (1984, pl. 7. figs. 8–10.), Oertli (in Charollais et al. 1977, pl. 1. fig. 8.), and Andreu (in Colin & Andreu 1990, pl. 1. figs. 10– 12.) from the respective Albian strata of Gabon, Israel, Switzerland and Morocco most likely belong to Neorichterina striata n. sp.

Remarks. The elongated specimen illustrated in Fig. 5/3 is probably a male representative of the species. This form is subordinate in the material.

Occurrences. Boreholes Agt-2, Vst-8, Hungary: Albian, Lower Cretaceous (Cséfán & Tóth 2013; present study).
