Pokornyopsis csurgokutensis n. sp.

Figs. 5/8–9

Etymology. Referring to the name of the type locality.

Holotype. Carapace , Eötvös Museum of Natural History, EMNH 2014.211.3.8. fig. 5/8.

Paratype. Carapace , Eötvös Museum of Natural History, EMNH 2014.211.4.3. fig. 5/9.

Type locality. Csurgókút outcrop, Tata, Hungary.

Type level. Toarcian, small ammonite-bearing siliceous limestone lenses.

Material. Csurgókút, Toarcian: 8 carapaces.

Dimensions. L: 497 µm, H: 465 µm, L/H= 1.068.

Diagnosis. A species of Pokornyopsis with characteristic concentric reticulation on the valve surface.

Description. Carapace subcircular with anteroventral and anterodorsal protuberances; the lower protuberance situated at a ¼ of its height and the upper one at the greatest length; anteroventral margin between the protuberances straight; internal features not visible; reticulation of the valve surface consists of sharp concentric ridges and short ribs perpendicular to the ridges.

Comparison. This species is very similar to Pokornyopsis feifeli from the Upper Jurassic of SW-Germany, described by Triebel (1941); however, it differs in details with respect to the ornamentation on its valve surface. The characteristic posterodorsal tubercle of P. feifeli is absent on the valves of the studied specimens.

Occurrences. Csurgókút, Tata, Hungary: Toarcian, Lower Jurassic (present study).
