Material examined. JAPAN: Ryukyus, Okinawa Prefecture, Okinawa Island, Heinan River, Japan, sweeping, holotype male, 27.xi.1988, M. Sasa (No. 174: 82).
Diagnostic characters. The species differs from other East Asian members of the genus by having an antenna with 10 flagellomeres; AR 0.22; palpomere 5/ 3: 2.7; bare eyes; superior volsella anteriomedially separate, with round edge; and inferior volsella well developed and triangular.
Emended description. Clypeus with 8 setae. Palp comprised of 5 segments in lieu of 4 stated in the original. Other characters are consistent with the original descriptions but some additional characters may be added: Wing length / length of profemur: 2.8. Palpomeres length (in µm): -; 20; 38; 55; 100, palpomeres 2 ellipsoid, 3 and 4 rectangular, 5 long and slender, palpomere 5/ 3: 2.7. Gonocoxite 113 µm long, without long setae apically. Gonostylus 40 µm long. Superior volsella fused anteriomedially with round edge. Inferior volsella well developed, and triangular. Transverse sternapodeme narrow, 40 µm long. Phallapodeme slightly curved, 50 µm long. HR 2.8, HV 3.1.
