Mapuchea burckhardti View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 1, 3–12 View FIGURES 1–5 View FIGURES 6–12 )

DIAGNOSIS: Differing from M. chilensis by median ridges of pronotum straight and exceeding posteriad of posterior margin of pronotum (ridges curved and posterior margin of pronotum straight in M. chilensis ); different number, size and distribution of protuberances on tegmina: one distinct elongate tubercle at base and three less distinct along claval vein (indistinct tubercle at base and elevated ridge transecting claval suture in caudad half of claval suture in M. chilensis ); and seven tubercles on discal area of tegmen (five in M. chilensis ). Apical portion of genital plate in ventral aspect oblique (straight in M. chilensis ); genital style in lateral view with rounded apex, with apical mesial blunt projection. Theca in apical portion tapered (truncate in M. chilensis ).

DESCRIPTION: Total length of male 5.6 mm. General colour dark brown, with lighter tegmina, alternate dark brown and ivory spots along costal margin and large irregular yellowishivory fuzzy spots on discal area of tegmina ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–5 ), face dark brown with tawny mark in median portion of frontoclypeus and its protuberances, anteclypeus tawny in median portion, lora tawny; antennal furrows sooty; legs with indistinct transverse bands.

Head ( Figs. 1, 3 & 5 View FIGURES 1–5 ) with compound eyes 2 mm wide, about twice as wide as long in mid line. Vertex sinuate at anterior margin, 0.93 mm long in mid line, 1.6 mm wide, lateral tubercles distinct. Frontoclypeus 0.96 mm high in mid line, 0.78 mm wide. Pronotum 0.57 mm long in mid line, 2.6 mm wide. Tegmina ( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1–5 & 6 View FIGURES 6–12 ) 4.15 mm long, 1.99 mm wide, irregularly oval. Costal margin ridge like, thickened in basal portion, forming two distinct ridges, external and internal slightly bent under tegmen. Vein R with two round tubercles in its median portion, vein M with elongate protuberance in half of tegmen length and oval tubercle in 2 / 3 of tegmen length, vein Cu with ridge in its 1 / 3 length and big, triangular tubercle just beyond half of tegmen length. Claval suture with elongate ridge basally and three small tubercles posteriad. Claval vein with protuberance in form of longitudinal ledge cephalad, not reaching half of vein and small tubercle posteriad. Ridges and tubercles with setiferous bullae. Hind tibia 1.89 mm long, tarsomeres: basitarsomere 0.39 mm, mid tarsomere 0.19 mm and apical one 0.25 mm, respectively.

Male pygofer ( Figs. 7 & 8 View FIGURES 6–12 ) short, without caudal processes, caudal margin produced to medial lobe, lobes of pygofer distinctly visible in ventral aspect. Genital plates fused to broad triangulate valve, plates not fused along mid line, genital plate truncate in lateral view, apical portion in ventral view oblique, dorsal surface with sclerotized, curved ridge, extending along caudal margin, with a few long setae, caudal margin with microsetae along. Theca of aedeagus ( Figs. 9 & 10 View FIGURES 6–12 ) in apical portion tapered. Genital styles ( Figs. 11 & 12 View FIGURES 6–12 ) almost straight, enlarged in distal third, in lateral view with rounded apex, with apical mesial blunt projection.

Female unknown.
