However, the two species are clearly distinguished by several characters: – the dorsal surface of the carapace is clearly more squamate in M. tiresias ; few, weak striae are present in M. devestiva n. sp.; – the first anterolateral spine is situated in the frontal margin in M. tiresias . This spine is situated at the anterolateral angle of the carapace in M. devestiva n. sp.;
– the distomesial spine of the basal segment of the antennal peduncle reaches the end of the second segment in the new species. This spine is very short, and clearly do not reach the end of the second peduncular segment in M. tiresias . Furthermore, the distal spines of the second segment of the antennal peduncle are clearly longer in the new species than in M. tiresias .
