Following the classification of Kuschel (1995), only two subfamilies of Brentidae are represented in the area of this study. Brentinae of New Caledonia are dealt with by Damoiseau (1962, 1966) as well as records for Vanuatu ( New Hebrides) (1989a, 1989b). An important first contribution to the fauna of New Caledonia of Apioninae was published
by Wanat (2001), to be followed by a further paper on the fauna. List of species from New Caledonia and Vanuatu:
