Genus Spathicerula Gnezdilov , gen. nov.
Type species: Adelungia calligoni Oshanin, 1908 .
Diagnosis. Head with a long straight process directed at obtuse angle to horizontal plane of head ( Figs 1B, 4A–C, 5D–E, 6, 7C–G). Aedeagus with pair of basal processes laterally ( Fig. 8C–D) and aedeagal shaft flattened dorso-ventrally, with serrated lateral margins.
Etymology. Generic name is the combination of Greek σπάΘΗ (saber) and κερος (corn) referring to the head process of the type species.
Species composition and distribution. Monotypical genus widely distributed from northern Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and northeastern Turkmenistan to southeastern Iran ( Fig. 10).
