Redescription. Width of vertex between eyes in male 3.7 – 3.9 times, in female 4.1 – 4.8 times wider than the width of frontal ridge between antennae. Mid segments of antennae 2.3 – 2.6 times as long as wide. Vertical diameter of eyes in male1.1 times larger, in female equal or 1.1 times shorter than subocular furrow. Metazona in male 1.3 – 1.4 times, in female 1.4 – 1.6 times shorter than prozona. Tegmina in male 1.3 – 2.0 times, in female 1.3 – 1.7 times as long as wide. Hind wings as long as tegmina. Hind femora in male 3.6 – 3.9 times, in female 3.3 – 3.6 times as long as wide. Male cerci conical, 1.7 – 2.6 times as long as wide near the base; in female cerci very short, 1.1 – 1.3 times longer than or as long as wide. Male supra-anal plate 1.4 – 1.7 times as long as wide near the base; in female 1.3 – 1.4 times as long as wide. Subgenital plate in male in dorsal view with pointed or bifurcated apex. Dorsal and ventral valves of ovipositor not serrated, with pointed apex.
Body grayish brown. Occiput and vertex dark brown, face grayish brown. Disc of pronotum brown, with narrow light stripe along lateral carinae; lateral lobes of pronotum with light brown lower and posterior margins. Tegmina brown. Hind wings blackish brown, with light veins. Sternal plate and sternites light brown with small dark marks. Inner side of hind femora grayish brown; outer side light brown. Hind tibiae with light brown outer and ventral sides, dorsal and inner sides bluish; spines light brown, with dark brown apex. Valves of ovipositor brown, with black apex. Sometimes the blackish brown melanic form ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 ) occurs beside normally colored specimens.
Measurements (in mm). Length of body male 28.2 – 44.0, female 34.5 – 51.0; pronotum male 9.5 – 14.3, female 10.5 – 17.0; tegmen male 5.0 – 9.6, female 5.5 – 9.1; hind femur male 14.2 – 21.0, female 15.5 – 23.3.
Distribution. China (Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Shanxi, Hebei, Henan, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Gansu, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang), Korea (continental part from north to south), Russia (East Siberia, Far East), Mongolia.
Remark. The length and shape of tegmina of H. neimongolensis (see Jin, 1994: fig. 145a) is the same as in holotype of H. brunneriana (see Saussure, 1888: pl. 2, fig. 10); the shape of posterior margin of pronotum is variable in H. brunneriana from obtuse to acute angulated. Therefore herein H. neimongolensis Jin, 1994 is considered as a pure synonym of H. brunneriana .
