Unionicola (Hexatax) miyazakii Imamura, 1953
Report associated with sponges: This species was mentioned by Crowell (1990) as developmentally associated with freshwater sponges in the Northern Hemisphere.
Remarks: This species was reported from Ibi River, Ishizu, Kaizu, Gifu Japan (Imamura 1953) and Kordestan, Kermanshah Province, Iran ( Hevers 1984). Viets & Plate (1954) reported it from a mussel, Anodonta (= Beringiana ) beringiana Middendorff. It needs further study (emphasizing on developmental study) of this mite to get a better idea about it association with freshwater sponges.
