Remarks: Trape and Mané (2006b) attributed West African populations of P. semivariegatus to a distinct subspecies “ P. semivariegatus ssp.”—differing from the nomi- nal subspecies by its dorsal coloration: almost uniformly green in West Africa, versus green with black crossbars
The snakes of Niger in southern, eastern, and central Africa. Trape and Baldé (2014) revived smithi Bocage, 1882 , for this subspecies. Literature records: Gourgou ( Chirio 2009).
Remark: The Téla specimens, the first known from Niger, appeared in the distribution map of Trape and Mané (2006b).
