Abbreviated Description. Bud scales present. Indumentum of simple hairs, leaflets 5–13, opposite, 3.5–12.5 cm long, 1.5–4.2 cm broad, ovate, lanceolate, elliptic or oblanceolate, often with tufts of hair in axils of secondary veins on lower surface, inflorescences usually clustered at stem apex, mostly 3–10 cm long, usually a corymbose thyrse, calyx 1.5–3 mm long, petals (4–)5, free, 4–7 mm long, imbricate, filaments completely fused or free for about one quarter of their length, sometimes becoming free with age, anthers (9–)10, glabrous, nectary annular, pubescent, ovary densely pubescent, 3-locular, locules with 2 collateral ovules, fruit 1.3–1.8 cm long, 3-valved, ovoid to globose, often trigonous when dried, densely puberulous, 1–2 collateral seeds in each valve, arillode confined to apex and adaxial surface of seed.

Distribution & Ecology. Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Swan Islands ( Honduras), Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and Guatemala, through Central America to Costa Rica but not recorded from Belize. In tropical deciduous forest and in semi-evergreen seasonal forest, mostly over limestone.
