Ficus leavensii var. thinophila Johnston (1949: 117) View in CoL
Lectotype (designated here):— PANAMA. San José Island, Perlas Archipelago, Gulf of Panama, 2 January 1946, I. M. Johnston 1012 (lectotype: GH 00034474 !, isolectotypes: BM!, P!, US!).
Nomenclatural notes:— In the protologue is not stated the herbarium where the type of F. leavensii var. thinophila was deposited. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) were the first to consider the specimen Johnston 1012 (GH) as the holotype; this could be considered a lectotypification but occurred after 2001 and the necessary statement “designated here” or a similar phrase was not used (see Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11). Here, we designate Johnston 1012 (GH 34474) as the lectotype because it contains a branch, leaves, stipules, and syconia.
Taxonomical notes:— Currently this name is considered a synonym of Ficus crocata (e.g., Berg & Villavicencio 2004, Berg 2009).
