Ficus trigona Linnaeus f. (1782: 441) View in CoL
Lectotype (designated here):— SURINAME. Without locality, s.d., Dahlberg s.n. (lectotype: S 07-9242 !).
Nomenclatural notes:— It is clear from the protologue of this species that there are two elements for typification. These are the figure 132, number 1, in Plumier (1757) and material at LINN collected by Dahlberg, without date, in Suriname. Berg and DeWolf (1975) had selected this LINN specimen (“ Ficus trigonata ”, Suriname, s.d., Dahlberg 159, LINN 1240.12) as the lectotype of Ficus trigona , but it cannot be considered as such because it is not mentioned in the protologue and therefore it is not original material ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 9.4). Furthermore the name indicated in the specimens does not match with the species name indicated in the protologue. Unlike the specimen at LINN, the specimens 07-9242 collected by Dahlberg at S is labelled as “ Ficus trigona ”, exactly as it appears in the protologue. Therefore, here we designate this specimen as the lectotype. This change of lectotype does not alter the already known circumscription of the taxon.
Taxonomical notes:— This is an accepted species (e.g., Carauta 1989, Berg 2009).
