Diagnosis. Smooth integument. Carapace with long pseudorostrum, 0.6 times frontal lobe length, ocular lobe with five lenses, serrate ventral margin; maxilliped 3 propodus 1.33 times carpus length; uropodal peduncle as long as last pleonite.
Description. Subadult female (holotype MGAB CUM 1748).
Body size: 1.51 mm.
Carapace ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 A). Smooth integument, 0.31 times total body length, 1.83 times as long as high, ocular lobe with five lenses, long pseudorostrum, 0.6 times frontal lobe length, serrate ventral margin.
Antenna 1 ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 B). Basal article of peduncle 0.98 times rest of articles combined length, main flagellum 0.88 times apical article length, accessory flagellum 0.30 times basal article of main flagellum.
Maxilliped 3 ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 C). Basis 0.66 times rest of articles combined length, one plumose seta on medial margin, two long plumose setae on outer process; merus 2.8 times as long as ischium, one short plumose seta on medial margin, one denticle and one long plumose seta on outer margin; carpus 0.86 times as long as merus, two plumose short setae on medial margin, one longer on distal margin; propodus 1.33 times as long as carpus, two pappose setae on medial margin, one plumose short one on outer margin; dactylus 0.37 times as long as propodus, terminal robust seta 1.66 times dactylus length; exopod incompletely developed.
Pereopod 1 ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 D). Basis 0.75 rest of articles combined length, merus 1.87 times as long as ischium; carpus 2 times as long as merus, one simple short seta on both margins, propodus 0.7 times as long as carpus, two short simple setae on both margins, dactylus 0.66 times as long as propodus, robust terminal seta as long as dactylus; exopod incompletely developed.
Pereopod 2 ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 E). Basis 0.37 times as long as rest of articles together, merus 4 times as long as ischium, one simple seta on medial margin, two simple ones on outer margin; carpus 1.66 times as long as merus; dactylus 2 times propodus length, one medial short seta, one outer seta, two median ones, two subterminal setae and one robust terminal seta as long as dactylus; similar incompletely developed exopod.
Pereopod 3 ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 F). Basis 0.77 times as long as rest of articles together; merus 1.57 times ischium length, one simple seta on outer margin of ischium, one on outer margin of merus; carpus 1.54 times as long as merus, one simple short seta on each margin; merus 0.76 times as long as carpus, one simple seta on medial margin, dactylus 0.98 times propodus length, terminal robust seta 2 times dactylus length.
Pereopod 4 ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 G). Basis 0.64 times as long as rest of articles together, merus 1.33 times ischium length, two simple setae on medial margins of ischium and merus, carpus 1.42 times merus length, one simple seta on each margin, propodus 0.76 times carpus length, one simple short seta on medial margin, dactylus 0.38 propodus length, terminal robust seta 1.6 times dactylus length.
Pereopod 5 ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 H). Broken, carpus to dactylus missing, basis 1.56 times ischium and merus combined length, merus 1.28 times ischium length.
Uropod ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 I). Peduncle as long as last pleonite, 1.3 times endopod length, three simple setae on outer margin; exopod 0.83 times endopod length, two simple short setae on outer margin, one subterminal seta on medial margin and terminal robust seta 0.75 times exopod length, one complex pedunculate seta and two simple ones on medial margin of endopod, terminal robust seta 0.48 times endopod length.
Etymology. The species is named after its long pseudorostrum.
Remarks. Cumella longirostrum sp. nov. is similar to other species from the Caribbean with smooth carapace and short uropods, such as C. meredithi Băcescu, 1971 , C. iliffei Băcescu, 1992 , C. micruropus (Zimmer, 1943) , C. solomoni Petrescu, Chatterjee & Schizas, 2013 and C. enriquensis sp. nov. ( Calman, 1911; Băcescu, 1971, 1992; Petrescu et al., 2013). It differs in: 1) longer pseudorostrum than in others; 2) carapace with serrate ventral margin like in C. solomoni vs. smooth in the rest of mentioned species; 3) more than two lenses on ocular lobe vs. two or one in C. meredithi and C. iliffei ; 4) short siphon like in C. micruropus , vs. long; 5) pereopod 2 dactylus with one seta on medial margin like in C. iliffei , vs. two in rest of mentioned species; 6) uropodal endopod with two medial setae like in C. solomoni , C. micruropus and C. enriquensis vs. three in C. iliffei and C. meredithi .
