Currhaeus striatus sp. nov.
( Figs. 3 View FIGURES 1–3 , 4 View FIGURES 4–10 , 11 View FIGURES 11–14 )
Type material. Holotype, male, BRAZIL: Conc. [Conceição] da Barra-ES; Brasil 04.viii.1969; C. T. & C. Elias [col.] ( DZUP) . Paratype, 1 male, BRAZIL: Conc. [Conceição] da Barra-ES; Brasil 04.viii.1969; C. T . & C. Elias [col.]. Secondary label: DEPTO ZOOL ; UF-PARANÁ . ( DZUP).
Diagnosis: Basal half of maxillary palpomere 2 yellow. Pronotum with lateral margins almost straight. Elytra dark brown, primary costae yellow in basal 2/3 ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4–10 ). Aedeagus with phallobase with short lateroapical thorns, suspensorial arms thin, elongate ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11–14 C-D). Basal 1/6 of phallus is considerably narrower than phallus medially ( Fig. 11A, C View FIGURES 11–14 ).
Description: Maxillary palpi brown, basal half of palpomere 2 yellowish. Pronotum yellow with median brown subtriangular patch ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4–10 ). Elytra dark brown with primary costae yellow at basal 2/3, forming a striate pattern ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4–10 ).
Eye diameter 1.5× longer than interocular distance. Antennomeres 3–5 almost of the same length. Maxillary palpomere 2 twice to 2.8× longer than 3 and 1.3–1.6× longer than 4. Pronotum subpentagonal, lateral margins almost straight, widest at basal margin, median longitudinal carina bifurcating medially forming thin areola at posterior half ( Fig.3 View FIGURES 1–3 ). Prosternum triangular, mesosternum trapezoidal. Elytra 3.8–3.9× longer than humeral width, intercostal intervals with irregular subrectangular cells. Hind femora 3× longer than trochanter length. Aedeagus with basal 2/5–3/5 widened and apex bent almost in right angle to right in dorsal aspect, narrowing before distal spherical expansion ( Fig. 11A, B, D View FIGURES 11–14 ). Phallobase ladle-shaped, lateroapical thorns short, suspensorial arms thin, elongate, as long as half of phallobase, almost reaching base of phallic expansion.
Junction between base of phallus and phallobase elongate and narrower than phallus width ( Fig. 11A View FIGURES 11–14 , C-D). Body length: 6.8–7.2 mm, humeral width: 1.5–1.6 mm.
Etymology: the species name refers to the striate color pattern of elytra.
Distribution: Brazil: Southeast region, Espírito Santo state, Conceição da Barra municipality ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 ).
