Diagnosis. Females of Hibana talmina are distinguished from the remaining known females of the genus by their epigyne bearing the hood located in the distal third of the atrium, between the lateral edges of the epigynal plate, which are very long and pointed ( Figs 8–10 View FIGURES 5–10 ).

Natural history. In the localities where both males and females were found, along with juveniles and female’s cocoon with eggs, H. talmina was one of the most common and abundant spider species in the fringing mangroove forests surrounding Cartagena de Indias ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11–13 ). Specimens were more commonly seen at night, on roots and foliage of the red mangrove ( Rhizophoraceae : Rhizophora mangle ) ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11–13 ). Galvis et al. (2019) reported an unusual predatory relationship between this species and the tree-climbing crab Aratus pisonii (Brachyura: Sesarmidae ), in which the spider is preyed upon by the crab.
Distribution. Colombia (Atlántico: Barranquilla; Bolívar: Cartagena new record) and records in Brescovit (1993) and Brescovit & Lise (1993) ( Figs 11–12 View FIGURES 11–13 ).
