Poecilimon similis Retowski, 1889 View in CoL
Material examined. Turkey: Artvin Prov., Borçka Distr., Maçahel (Camili)Vill., 400 m, 25.6.2001, 1 male (Neotype, here designated), plus 8 males, 5 females (leg. M. Ünal ) ( AİBÜEM) .
Remarks. Retowski (1889: 220) described this species after 1 male, 1 female from Sinop ( Turkey) and 1 male from Batum ( Georgia). Bey-Bienko (1954: 334, 336) did not study the type specimens, but he selected Batum as the type locality. This is a valid lectotype designation (pers. commun. Holger Brown). However, the type specimens (2 males, 1 female) are probably lost (pers. commun. A.V. Gorochov, ZIN, St. Petersburg). All comparisons and taxonomic decisions for this species made after Bey-Bienko (1954) were based on Transcaucasian specimens, including the type locality in Batum. This species group encompasses several closely related species. Therefore, it is necessary to designate a neotype to clarify this species. Here, a male specimen from Maçahel (Camili) in Turkey, located just 15 km south of Batum, is designated as the neotype.
