Distribution outside Iran. Asiatic Russia and Korea ( Papp 2013), Austria, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland ( Yu et al. 2012), Germany, Poland ( Griffiths 1968 as Dacnusa merella ; Yu et al. 2012), Hungary ( Papp 2006, 2008; Yu et al 2012), Ireland and Scotland ( Broad et al. 2012; Yu et al. 2012), United Kingdom ( Nixon 1937 as Dacnusa merella ; Griffiths 1968; Broad et al. 2012; Yu et al. 2012), Ukraine ( Perechayenko 2008; Yu et al 2012).
Host records. Cerodontha (Dizygomyza) caricicola (Hering, 1926) on Carex sp., C. (Dizygomyza) luzulae (Groschke, 1957) on Luzula silvatica (Huds.) Gaudin , C. (Dizygomyza) chaixiana (Hering, 1956) on Poa chaixii Vill. , C. (Butomomyza) staryi (Stary, 1930) on Carex sp, C. (Butomomyza) scirpi (Karl, 1926) on Scirpus silvaticus L. and C. (Butomomyza) caricivora (Groschke, 1954) on Carex silvatica Huds. ( Diptera : Agromyzidae ) ( Griffiths 1968; Yu et al. 2012), and Phytomyza soenderupi Hering, 1941 ( Diptera : Agromyzidae ) ( Yu et al. 2012).
