Diagnosis. Forewing length is 11–12 mm in males (11 mm in the holotype) and 12–12.5 mm in females. Barsine selene sp. n. is very similar externally to the form of B. nigralba with a long dentate postmedial line, but can be distinguished from it by the dens of postmedial line being broader. The male genitalia of B. selene sp. n. resemble those of B. maculifasciata and B. parameia , but differ clearly by the valva being narrower medially with the almost straight costa, the much smaller, trigonal medial costal process (while that is long and claw-like in B. maculifasciata and B. parameia ), the smaller and straight distal costal process (while that is much larger and claw-like curved in B. maculifasciata and B. parameia ), the more massive distal saccular process, and the much longer cluster of much larger cornuti. The female genitalia of B. selene sp. n. are very similar to those of B. maculifasciata and B. parameia , but differ by the shorter lateral lobes of antrum, the broader sclerotized posterior area of corpus bursae at its connection with the ductus bursae, the larger signum, and the broader appendix bursae.
Distribution. North Thailand (Chiang Mai and Nan) and North Laos (Phongsali).
Etymology. In Greek mythology, Selene is the goddess of the moon.
