Hygrobates (s. str.) fluviatilis ( Ström, 1768)
(Figs 21 B; 23 F)
Material examined: Emilia-Romagna: I 888, 1/5/4; Friuli-Venezia Giulia: 1298, 0/1/0; I 1320, 1/3/2; I 1333, 1/1/5; I 1340, 0/1/0; I 1601, 2/5/0; I 1603, 1/0/1; I 1604, 0/1/1; I 1605, 1/1/0; Dor 6 pool 16.05.2017, 1/0/0. 10 sites, 39 specimens .
Previously published records from Italy: All older records are of uncertain specific attribution and listed above, under “ Hygrobates sp. fluviatilis group”.
Habitat: Middle order streams, also in lowlands, with a remarkable tolerance against pollution ( Gerecke & Schwoerbel 1991, Pešić et al. 2017).
Distribution: Probably with a wide distribution in Europe, but all records published under this name before the revision of Pešić et al. (2017) questionable. Ascertained for Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, Montenegro, Romania, and here for Italy (in the country obviously restricted to the northern part).
