Nemausa cornuta View in CoL . — Carmona-Suárez & Poupin 2016: 2016, 374, figs. 8A, B; Poupin 2018: 196.
Distribution. Western Atlantic: Bermuda, USA (Southern Florida), Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico, St. John, St. Croix, St. Martin, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Panama, Dominica, Martinique, Barbados, St. Vincent, Tobago, and Colombia ( Wagner 1990; Carmona-Suárez & Poupin 2016; Poupin 2018; present study).
Material examined. Barbados, Drill Hall , St. Michael, nearshore rubble, 13°04’36.30”N, 59°036’26.63”W GoogleMaps , 1 Ô CW: 4.1 mm ( BLSZ 177). Idem, 1 Ô CW: 9.3 mm ( BLSZ 210).
Remarks. Specimens of Nemausa cornuta were collected by hand at low tide in nearshore rubble habitat, under rubble rock on the west coast of Barbados. Poupin (2018: 196) included Barbados in the distribution list for Nemausa cornuta ; however, this record is based on the reports of Nemausa acuticornis by Rathbun (1921) and Jones (1969). Wagner (1990: 6–10) in his revision of the genus Mithrax , did not include Barbados in the distribution list for Nemausa cornuta . Given the inconsistencies, caution is warranted against the previous records of Nemausa cornuta for Barbados. Nemausa cornuta can be identified by the anterolateral spines not all situated in the same line on the carapace; the lateral spine is situated on the lateral side of the carapace ( Rathbun 1925).
