Remarks. Specimens of Macrocoeloma subparallelum were collected by hand in nearshore rubble habitat at low tide and caught in crab traps placed on sandy bottoms (~ 4 m deep) on the west coast of Barbados. One ovigerous female was collected in July 2019. Two colour varieties of Macrocoeloma subparallelum were collected by this study, the purple ( Fig. 8B View FIGURE 8 ) and green variety ( Fig. 8C View FIGURE 8 ). Rathbun (1921: 87) reported specimens of Macrocoeloma subparallelum (three females (one immature; one ovigerous), USNM 72864, 72865, 72882) for Barbados that were collected by the Barbados-Antigua Expedition in 1918. Macrocoeloma subparallelum can be identified by the shape of the rostral horns, which are subparallel and not fused at the base, the presence of a row of five spines in the posterior branchial region (not including lateral spines), and the presence of a spine on the dorsal surface of the carapace in the intestinal region (modified from Rathbun 1925).
