Distribution. Western Atlantic: USA (North Carolina, Florida), Bahamas, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Gulf of Mexico, Barbados, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Fernando de Noronha, Trinidade, and Martin Vaz ( Rathbun 1930; Alves et al. 2012; Tavares & Mendonça 2022).
Material examined. Barbados, Drill Hall , St. Michael, nearshore rubble, 13°04’36.30”N, 59°36’26.63”W, 1 ♀ CW: 5.3 mm ( BLSZ 175 ) GoogleMaps . Idem , 1 Ô CW: 4.2 mm ( BLSZ 180 ) . Idem , 1 Ô CW: 6.1 mm ( BLSZ 215 ) .
Remarks. Specimens of Paractaea nodosa were caught by hand at low tide in nearshore rubble habitat under rubble rock. Paractaea nodosa was found under the same rubble rock as Mithraculus coryphe , Mithraculus forceps , Amphithrax aculeatus , and Platyactaea setigera (H. Milne Edwards, 1834) . It was first reported by A. Milne-Edwards (1880: 11) as Actaea nodosa , collected at depths of 169 m (94 fathoms). Rathbun (1921: 71) reported one juvenile male specimen of Actaea rufopunctata nodosa (USNM 76721) for Barbados, which was collected at depths of 120–126 m (67–70 fathoms) by the Barbados-Antigua Expedition in 1918. Additionally, Collins & Morris (1979) reported a fossil carapace of Actaea rufopunctata nodosa collected in Barbados from Pleistocene coral rock.
