Notes:—For Eugenia rugosa View in CoL , two sheets of Ruiz s.n. have been analysed by Berg (B and BR). The one in Berlin has been destroyed. That from BR has been designated as the lectotype.
Berg (1857) cited two syntypes when he described Eugenia amazonica (both Poeppig 2864), in herbarium B and herbarium W. As the sheet in B has been destroyed, that from W is designated here as the lectotype.
Eugenia fenzliana was described based in two syntypes, Martius s.n. (M) and Poeppig s.n. (W), being the latter designated as the lectotype, having Berg’s handwriting. The specimen Martius s.n. (identified as E. fenzliana ) was not found in herbarium M.
Berg (1857) cited two syntypes when he described Eugenia racemifera (both Poeppig 2395), in herbarium B and herbarium W. As the sheet in B has been destroyed, that from W is designated here as the lectotype.
Finally, the holotype of Eugenia calothyrsa has been destroyed in Berlin. The only isotype found (K) is designated here as the lectotype.
Distribution:— Eugenia patens is broadly distributed in Amazonia, on “terra firme” forests.
