Type :— PERU. Ruiz s.n. (holotype B †; lectotype BR! ( BR0000005260706 ), designated here; isolectotypes F!, G!, HAL, LE!, MICH!, NY!, P!) .

Eugenia cruegeri Krug & Urban ex Urban (1895: 625) . Type :— TRINIDAD & TOBAGO. Great Dog River, Putney Hill, 300m, November 1889, H. F. A. Eggers 5804 (syntype B †; lectotype K!, designated here; isolectotype US!). Lost syntype:—Trinidad, Crueger s.n. (syntype B †).

Notes:—The holotype of Eugenia limbosa has been destroyed in Berlin; the isotype of BR has been designated as the lectotype, once it has a handwritten identification by Berg .

Both syntypes of Eugenia cruegeri (Eggers 5804 and Crueger s.n.) have been destroyed in Berlin. The specimen Eggers 5804 from K has been chosen as the lectotype, because the reproductive parts are in good condition.

Distribution:— Eugenia limbosa grows in gallery forest, at shore of creek or primary high montane rainforest in Suriname, Guiana, Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago, and also Peru, Ecuador and Central Amazon, from 350–2040m.
